Christmas, a little bit late!

I almost forgot that the Christmas cards have gone out and
that it was okay to post these images!

The credit for the inspiration for this set up goes to fellow photographer

She, graciously, hosted a mini-mentorship with two of us.  (it started out being 6)

One of our assignments was to copy the work of another photographer, with that photographer's approval.  Our goal was to recreate the scene, the light, the feeling, of the image.

After doing that assignment, I found a set-up that Beth had used for her Christmas mini seasons and
like a good student, I asked for permission to recreate her idea.

Thankfully, she said yes!

Sweethearts!

These two sweethearts have been willing to pose for pictures for as long as I can remember.  It seems the youngest has gotten quite good at hamming it up!  This time even picked out outfits just in case I asked them to model for me.

Just love this little girl!

She was a willing model to help my practice my portrait skills.  We had overcast skies and drizzling rain, which kept us running for shelter and then walking back to finish our ideas.  She never complained.
Not once!

Project: Create 2014 4/26

Project: Create 2014

We're back this year with a new project designed to help us build more creativity into our photography.
Every other Monday we'll post our images, many of them taken with our Lensbaby lenses.
The effects of the Lensbaby can be somewhat subtle or quite dramatic.
At the bottom of my post, as well as in the post of the other photographers, is a link to next photographers images. Click those links to take a trip around our circle!

This week's images brought to you with K and M!

A need for a babysitter and a need for some subjects
proved beneficial for all involved!
Yes, I'll watch the girls, if you bring them with their winter boots!

Lots of inspiration from this week's shot came from Denean Melcher photography and Denean's images over the last couple of weeks.

Fifty-two on Friday-Week Forty-two! Ten more to go!

A blog circle of photographers from all over the world, both amateur and professional alike, sharing their interpretations of a common theme.  At the bottom of each post, click the link for the next photographer until you come full circle, back here to my blog.

"jewels"

It took some time this week to come up with an idea for our theme.  I spent the beginning of the week editing some pictures I took of two of my nieces on a recent outing.  They'd been going through a bit of a hard time due to the loss of a close family friend.  It was the kind of experience that is hard enough to understand as an adult, much less a child.   While I spent the day with the girls, I marveled at how resilient these kids could be in the midst of turmoil.  Many of my shots that day were of girls deep in thought, but then there were the times when the happy-go-lucky innocence of being eight and six shined through.

The girls are no strangers to my camera.  I've used them as my practice models since I got serious about photography. They like to be silly and come up with their own poses, but they're good about taking direction too. These two girls and one of my other nieces came along much later than nine of their other cousins.
They're almost a whole different generation and we treasure them, like jewels.
